I am literally the worst person in the world for doing this, and I have done it so many times and failed, but this is my list of 10 books I will DEFINITELY (probably) read this year. I’ve scoured my shelves for books which I was desperate to read when I bought them, and yet have just been lying there ever since, and I have come up with 10 that really deserve to be finished in 2016.
- ‘The Bone Clocks’ by David Mitchell – I started this one last year and only got 20% through befor inexplicably putting it down
- ‘The Kiss of Deception’ by Mary E. Pearson – I was very excited to read this given the hype surrounding it when it came out.
- ‘The Mark of Athena’ by Rick Riordan – I hate that I just left this series hanging despite enjoying it.
- ‘Suite Francaise’ by Irene Nemirovsky – Another one that I was so excited to read when I bought it.
- ‘The Green Mile’ by Stephen King – I did leave this one about 40 pages in for no reason, but also I’d like to finish as many of the Stephen King works on my shelf as possible this year.
- ‘Wild Swans’ by Jung Chang – I am studying Chinese history this year (specifically under Mao) and this was a recommended book that caught my eye
- ‘Leviathan Wakes’ by James S.A. Corey – A recommendation from one of my closest friends.
- ‘A Thousand Splendid Suns’ by Khaled Hosseini – It has been an intention of mine to read the rest of Hosseini’s books after finishing ‘The Kite Runner’ in July 2014.
- ‘The Man in the High Castle’ by Philip K. Dick – It has only been on my shelf since Christmas, but I was desperate to read this one, so I’m not going to allow it to linger there for too long.
- ‘The Book Thief’ by Markus Zusak – I really wasn’t getting into this one when I put it down at 45 pages in, but I am determind to finish it this year.

I really want to read Suite Francaise too! I watched the movie which I really liked but I wasn’t too keen on the ending. I know it’s only one part of the whole novel but I hope the book is a little better in that respect (I’ve heard it is). The Book Thief is wonderful! I hope you enjoy it if you get back into it this year. Plenty of these books are on my list 🙂

I was desperate to watch the movie of Suite Francaise but told myself I wouldn’t until I had read it! I’ll have to watch it when I’m done reading 🙂

Mark of Athena was my favorite of the series so I think you’ll enjoy it! A thousand splendid suns was really emotional and frustrating at the same time and I’m really conflicted about reading The Bone Clocks since I didn’t really like Cloud Atlas that much..

You’re not the first person to tell me that about Mark of Athena!

The Mark of Athena is probably the best book in The Heroes of Olympus series! And The Book Thief does start off slow, but it’s an amazing emotional story. I hope you enjoy all these books, Emma!

I definitely found that The Book Thief started slow; that is probably why I put it down!
